South Africa. Dec. 9 (AGCNewsNet) – The Department of Home Affairs has introduced an eRecruitment portal, offering a streamlined and paperless process for South Africans seeking employment within the department.
Touted as the first of its kind for government hiring, the portal aligns with Home Affairs’ broader initiative to digitally transform its services. This platform is designed to ease the application process for jobseekers and enhance operational efficiency within the department.
Minister Dr. Leon Schreiber emphasized the importance of embracing digital practices, stating, "Online recruitment has long been a standard practice in the private sector, and it is high time that government catches up. The launch of our eRecruitment platform is a significant step toward achieving our goal of a digital-first organization.”
The portal eliminates the need for paper-based documentation, aligning with Home Affairs’ five-year vision of complete digital integration.
In addition to simplifying recruitment, the platform supports the digitization of the national population register, integrating biometrics and automation to enhance security and reduce fraud. This advancement is expected to save South Africa significant amounts in fraud prevention, particularly in areas like social grants and tax collection.
Dr. Schreiber noted, “The eRecruitment platform provides a glimpse into the future we envision—a future where services are efficient, secure, and accessible. This is Home Affairs @ Home.”
The launch signals a shift towards modernized government operations, setting a new standard for public service recruitment in South Africa.
